Giornata Azzurra 2008

On May 24th & 25 the Italian Air Force held their Giornata Azzurra 2008 air show at the Pratica Di Mare air base which is situated on the coast a few kilometers south of Rome, and IrishAirPics went along to cover the action.
Giornata Azzurra, which in english means "Blue Day", is the main air show of the Italian Air Force, and it attracts a wide range of aircraft, both Italian and non Italian.
One of the highlight of this year's air show was the appearance in the static display of a pair of Mirage 2000C-RDY fighters and a Lockheed C-130H Hercules from the United Emirates Air Force.
Photography at Pratica Di Mare is difficult, especially after mid-day due to the sun facing you but we made the best of the conditions, the results of which are shown here.
