Irish Air Corps CN235 & PC-9 Air-to-Air
By Frank Grealish | 28th September 2018 | In Flight, Ireland
Since January 2004 I've been fortunate to have done air-to-air photoshoots with the Irish Air Corps on multiple occasions, shooting both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
I've now published most of my Irish Air Corps air-to-air on the website, and (I think) this is the last batch to go online.
In September 2018 I was invited to join an Air Corps PR photoshoot, with the subjects being both of the CN235 maritime patrol aircraft, and a solo Pilatus PC-9. The location for the photoshoot was the picturesque Clew Bay in Co. Mayo, close to Croagh Patrick, and as luck would have, for once the sun played ball.
I flew in the lead CN235 aircraft, and over the course of the photoshoot I was able to use both the rear ramp and the side photographer / observer windows to shoot the other CN235 and also the PC-9. There's not much else to add really, except to say a big thank you to the Air Corps Press Office for the invite... other than that, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
I'm ever grateful to the Irish Air Corps for introducing me to aviation and aviation photography, and in the year of their 100th Anniversary, I would like to thank them for their support over the years, and wish them all the best for the next 100 years.
