Irish Coast Guard S-92 A2A

In July 2020, at the end of a Search and Rescue (SAR) training mission, an air-to-air photoshoot was arranged with the Dublin Airport based Sikorsky S-92 rescue helicopter.

CHC Helicopters, operating on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard, maintains a fleet of five S-92s for search and rescue on and around the island of Ireland, operating from four bases, namely Sligo, Shannon, Waterford and Dublin airports.

The fifth helicopter does not have a permanent operating base, instead it is used as a spare aircraft to replace any one of the helicopters that undergoing maintenance. This ensures that four aircraft are always available for SAR duties.

Using Maule MX-7-180A EI-GER flown by Se Pardy as a photoship, we joined up and flew circuits over the Irish Sea, Dublin Bay, as well as Dublin city, catching the S-92 against local landmarks such as Lambay Island, Bull Island, Dun Laoghaire Harbour, Dublin Port, the Poolbeg Towers, Croke Park and the CHC base at Dublin Airport.

A Big Thank You Goes To....
Rob Tatten from CHC Helicopters Ireland and Se Pardy for the chance to photograph the S-92 air-to-air.
