Shannon Aviation Museum

The Shannon Aviation Museum, based in Shannon town, 5km from Shannon Airport, and has a small but nice collection of aircraft, cockpits and engines, along with undercarriage and other aviation memorabilia.

Aircraft in the collection include Blackburn Buccaneer, XX897 (full airframe), Sepecat Jaguar, XX826 & English Electric Lightning XM144 (cockpits only), other items of interest include a Rolls Royce Conway jet engine, and the main landing gear from a Boeing 707.

The Buccaneer is painted in the colours a previous owner, European Aviation, and unusual nose on this Buccaneer is actually a Tornado ADV nose, and it was fitted as the aircraft was used to trial the Foxhunter radar.

Thanks to Jane for the guided tour, and for all her hard work setting up the museum and keeping it running... thanks also for the cuppa.

The Shannon Aviation Museum is part of the Atlantic Air Adventures organisation, it shares the same buildings and facilities. As well as having their aviation museum on site, Atlantic Air Adventures has a B737-800NG flight simulator, they are also an IAA Registered Training Facility, Aircraft Records Technician and Part 21 Design Technician courses.
